Designed to support and inspire young people aged from 10 to 14, these sessions are an opportunity to make fun art about pets (or other animals you like!). During the course, we will discover contemporary and historical artists who have made art about animals, investigate and learn about different materials and techniques, and explore self-expression through art making.
With no more than four young people attending per session, everyone will receive all the attention and encouragement they need to make some great art.
Please bring your young person in clothes that don’t matter. Aprons are provided, but young people seem to prefer not to wear them, and mess will happen!
Parents are invited to stay in the comfortable lounge (next door to the studio), where they can chat, read, work and make use of the WiFi. Alternatively, you are welcome to leave your child if they are comfortable for you to do so.
Meet the teacher
I’m Alaina, a DBS checked qualified teacher with ten years in-school experience and 16 years experience as a tutor and private educator of children, teens, and adults. I am also an experienced artist specialising in watercolour and drawing.
I am calm and patient, and have lots of experience working with neurodivergent people, including people who are Autistic or have ADHD or PDA. My time as a home educator has expanded my understanding of learning and development from beyond that of mainstream education. In my studio, I cultivate a nurturing approach allowing for a wide range of learning styles and needs, that encourages creativity and exploration.
