Scroll down to find additional information about upcoming sessions!
Sessions run fortnightly on Thursdays, 10:30-11:30, from my cosy home studio. With around four children attending per session, or up to six children during the summer when we also have access to outdoor space, each child will receive all the attention and encouragement they need to make great art.
Please bring your child in clothes that don’t matter. Aprons are provided, but children seem to prefer not to wear them, and mess will happen!
Parents are encouraged to stay, and the comfortable lounge area next to the studio has additional activities for siblings (and attendees that need a break from the studio!)
Get ready…
…for a messy, marvellous adventure where your child is empowered to celebrate their individuality. With a variety of art materials available, the balance between structure and freedom allows even the most hesitant of young artists to flourish. In the studio, the chaos of artistic expression is welcomed!
Captivate the imagination!
Every session revolves around a captivating idea or visual inspiration, sparking curiosity and fuelling creative exploration. Join us in nurturing the beginnings of a lifelong love and understanding of art that will provide your child with the potential to excel.
January to March 2026
Welcome to a new year of Youngster’s Art Club! Between January and March, our theme is ‘Under the Sea’. The children will begin with sessions aimed at practising drawing skills, whilst exploring different media, moving onto exploring 3D art making.
Each session can be booked as a single, one-off experience, or choose a few for your child to build upon the skills they learn. The full block of six sessions can be booked together for a discount.
Shells
Thursday 8th January 10:30-11:30
Beginning with carefully observing a collection of shells, the children will use black pen to draw what they see, then add colour with blendable pastels and watercolour paints.
Under the sea
Thursday 22nd January 10:30-11:30
Building upon discussion of warm and cool colours, children will use oil pastels and watercolours to create a sea creature of their choice.
Monoprinting
Thursday 5th February 10:30-11:30
Hokusai’s ’Great Wave’ is the inspiration for a session learning simple monoprinting techniques.
Sun catcher Porthole
Thursday 19th February 10:30-11:30
Imagine yourself in a submarine, peering through a porthole… what might you see? Children will create porthole sun catchers to hang up and catch their imaginations.
Jellyfish mobiles
Thursday 5th March 10:30-11:30
Inspired by Elisabetta Milan’s ‘Alien Jellyfish’ children will use wire and scrap materials to create a jellyfish to hang up.
Coral Reef sculpture
Thursday 19th March 10:30-11:30
Using a collection of small recyclable materials, children will each build their own miniature coral reef in an egg box.
My studio is in Northway, just outside of Tewkesbury, near J9 of the M5. Numbers 41 and 71 buses pass at the end of the road, which is just a ten minute walk from Ashchurch-for-Tewkesbury railway station.
Full address details will be shared upon booking.
There is an intentional overlap in the ages for Art Clubs. This option is perfect for children who enjoy playing with art and would benefit from a place to try out materials and techniques with a little gentle instruction. Youngster’s Art Club explores creativity and inspiration, using children’s natural curiosity to find ways to explore more deeply.
If you are unsure which Art Club would be the best fit for your child, please contact me at alainastorrarart@gmail.com to arrange a chat.
