watercolour clouds
I went through a phase of painting little pictures of clouds most days one Autumn. I sectioned off sheets of watercolour paper with washi tape, and painted a tiny study based on the sky each day: pictures I found on the internet, and from my imagination. It was so simple, something that took just a few minutes, but was an excellent way to practise my watercolour skills, especially controlling washes and run back.
In the video I used Bockingford watercolour paper, which is 140lb/300gsm, cold pressed (NOT). My paints were Winsor and Newton Paynes Grey and Intense (phthalocyanine) Blue. I also used two jars of water (one to wash a dirty brush in, one for clean water); a largish flat brush and a largish pointed round brush; a cloth for drying my brushes; and a cloth for dabbing paint from the paper.
